ASU America Reads

Arizona State University’s America Reads Tutoring Program offers a tutoring program to students in K-8th grade. Children enrolled in the program receive one-on-one tutoring from a highly trained university student with a focus on reading, writing and math. Students in this program will also participate in engaging activities that teach them about various topics in art, science and social studies. This program also provides opportunities for students to learn about college and how they can get there. All lessons correspond to the Arizona Department of Educations’ Common Core Standards. This program is free, but limited space is available.

Intro to Cooking

It’s time to learn basics of cooking and how to survive in the kitchen. This fun class teaches you how to gather ingredients, measure and the basics of creating simple meals at home. Preparing, serving and cleaning-up will also be covered. This class is fun and delicious!

Delta Sigma Theta / Delta Gems

Phoenix Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter Delta Academy prepares young females, 11 to 18 years old, for success in academics and self-esteem, and educates them to be successful leaders in the 21st Century. We support our young women with scholarships in math, science, and technology, teaching leadership through service, as well as the importance of cultivation and maintenance of relationships.

Project Alpha

The Kroc Center has partnered with Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity to present this mentorship program for young men of all backgrounds. Mentees are provided the tools needed to develop the strengths they already have, in order to best contribute to their home and community. Participants will learn the importance of leadership, academic achievement, career preparedness, social skills, and fundamental political understanding.
